National Baptism Day
Well, We got to see some of the fruits of our labors on the 31st of August. Three people from our area, San Juan de Miraflores, were baptized there names are Aaron (9), Carlos(77), and Javier(15). I would like you all to pray for these three individuals so that in the future God can shine brightly through them and that they find their place in the kingdom using their talents to glorify the Lord. The baptism was at a place called San Jose, a little beach on the side of the river. We had around 22 people get baptized altogether as well so that is awesome and 7 of those were from our service locations. After the baptism we got to celebrate by having fun time at the beach. Everything up to this point
first Thing we did was we met our Peru Moms and went to their houses then we got a crash course on the Bus System which wasn't so hard. We had lunch at this nice chicken place next and then to Plaza de Armas after that it was bedtime. Then in the morning we went to church from the office which was fun even though I couldn't understand what was being said then for lunch it was back home for spaghetti and then I walked from there to Plaza de Armas which took about fifteen minutes and finally back home and tomorrow is the first spanish class
Hey everybody hope you are all doing well. I am doing just fine. This week was really just a lot of spanish we discussed our houses in arequipa and in the states in class this week I did pretty good I had to ask about a few I didn;t know yet but good for the most part. I'm gonna play soccer again on saturday so pray that I don't look to stupid out there. We've finally started conjugating verbs in spanish. It is kind of hard with irregular verbs because you just have to know which ones are which you can't really tell just by looking at them. I've got to come up with some goals and stuff for our suppert family person ,his name is kevin simpson, which is kinda hard for me since I am not a goal oriented person and just kinda like to go with flow or against it if the occasion calls for it so pray that I can think of a goal and actually work towards it instead of just making one for the sake of making one.
Yeah this week I got sick kinda of bad too but luckily only for one day. also I got to try frog juice and downed the whole thing in a couple of seconds. I thought it tasted like a hot chocolate milkshake I think it's helping me remember spanish a lot easier (they say it helps with the memory). Thank God I haven't had any bad run ins here in arequipa but a couple of other people have. I'm not really worried about that though being a guy I think is a little safer. The spanish is getting harder but I'm still keeping up pretty well I can usual get the worksheets done quickly and words come to mind pretty fast except for the day I was sick. well till next week thanks for everything everybody
wow well it has been awhile since I last worte and a lot has happened. well first we met our partners in Lima and then made to Iquitos. Just in case here is the address again. Iglesia del Nazareno, Putumayo 2641, Iquitos, Peru. After a couple of weeks here we went to a place called padre cocha and had an amazing ministry there. we had about 300 people come to this tiny church after a public sermon by gary crites one of are american 40/40s. Most of them were kids so many came that we didn't have enough packages to hand out we only had about a hundred. Now that is amazing and once again God outstrips our expectations by miles. Today we have been building a concrete slab to drain water from behind our dorms and it is about halfway done. mainly because we have to mix the concrete by hand and the concrete won't mix very well. we´ve were having a hard time mixing it correctly we usually put to much water in it because it does't look right and all the water rises to the top of the concrete and it's hard to sread it correctly but we figured out that if it looks a little too dry then it's perfect and every batch keeps getting better. well thanks guys love and miss you all. thanks for all the prayers and the support you are all amazing and hope everything keeps going well at church.
Well we've only had two days of solid work the first day we went and talked to a bunch of people and they weren't very nice either. We asked one guy his name and he said "why do you want my name?." Other people say they are catholic and there going to die catholic and other things like that. The second day we went to find a place to present a jesus film and that went well and then to a school to see if we could use it and they said we had to go to the president of the district and gave us his address and now we are waiting to go ask him if we can use it. The people at the school were very nice to us and helped us a lot and we talked to a guy there who was really open to us and I'm going to teach some english to him and his kids. So the second day went better than the first. that is about all that is going on right now. Love and miss you guys thanks for the prays and my new address is Av. It was a great time at Love Extreme plenty to do, getting to see people from the arequipa one project and the Extreme Staff, and getting to know some of the other 40/40's from the other groups. At the event I got to utilize my spanish and translate for the short-termers at the gate when people had questions. At the event we had a kids fair, conferences for men and women, of course we had cuy or guinea pig though not 10,000 a mere 2,500 of them but they still went quick anyway at 5 soles a piece, and then we had plenty of bands, and of course Nick Vujicic spoke. At the conferences we had over four hundred people come to know Christ as their savior and almost 80% of the people in the crowd at love extreme stepped forward when Nick made the call to accept Christ. So the people in Arequipa have a lot of work to do over next year and a half or so that they are working there. also they revealed the next extreme projects. one in paraguay, another one in Peru and something in Colombia as well. Then we had the short term projects in the various areas of work in Peru. I was here in Pucallpa to help direct this project so in about a year I have gone from being on a short term project to directing one wow God is amazing. Along with the help of The Fosters, Katie Anderson and our peruvian counterparts we had a very successful campaign in Pucallpa we have a ton of new contacts to go out and visit. Even through the chaos that is the fiesta de san juan which made everything very difficult for us. Even though God gave us great success. Thanks for all your guys' support to be here and be able to be apart of this. It has been an experience I will never forget. And I will never be the same again.
